Wall Plaque in Burr Elm

This was a particularly fine slice of Burr Elm, which had been in my workshop for a couple of years or more - waiting until I felt brave enough to make an off-centre plaque out of it! The plaque was finished with several coats of finishing oil and rubbed down with wire wool between each coat. Because of the "open" nature of the surface, I decided not to give it a final coat of wax polish, but merely buff it with a cloth. This is the first year that I have been invited to exhibit at the West Berkshire and North Hampshire Open Studios Exhibition - "Insight 2010" and this was one of the two pieces I exhibited. I was very surprised when it was sold on the opening day of the exhibition, but very delighted
